Flock Soaking Blend

No time for sprouting? Raw for Birds has created an easy soaking blend to give your multi-species flock a superfood boost! The Flock soaking blend has sixteen different seeds, legumes and nuts that the whole flock will relish.

All ingredients are organic, human-grade and contain no preservatives, salt, sugar or nasty chemicals.

How to start soaking

Rinse under water one tablespoon per two birds until it runs close to clear. Then soak for 8-12 hours. Ensure that there is at least an inch of water above when soaking, as the blend will expand over time. You may notice while soaking the water will turn dirty. This is normal as nutrients are released into the water.

Once soaked, rinse until it runs close to clear, let drain and serve. Don't worry if you don't get home in time to take it out of the water. The maximum soaking time is 24 hours. Soaked seeds should have an earthy smell and be offered immediately. Discard uneaten portions after 2-3 hours. If you are worried about uneaten food, reduce the portion of the soaked seed, so nothing is left behind.

Don't waste the water you used for soaking; pour it onto your garden. It's full of powerful nutrients.

When feeding soaked seed, ensure it is free from mould, and other kitchen contaminants. If you have particular issues, you can use a few drops of Vetfarm Aviclens or Organic Apple Cider Vinegar when soaking.

Pumpkin Seeds (Pepitas), Oat Groats, Sesame Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Buckwheat Kernels, Chickpeas, Red Lentils, Adzuki Beans, Green Lentils, Quinoa Tri-Colour, White French Millet, Wheat Grains, Rye Grains, Green Split Peas, Mung Beans, Amaranth, Unshelled Almonds - Nonpareil. Contains nuts. Please note some ingredients are seasonal and may not be present.

My birds (IRN and alexandrine parrot) absolutely love it!! They get bored of chop and having this added into their daily feeds or alternative has been great :) I will definitely be buying more. My birds get excited for feeding time with these soaking blends.

My boy loves his soaked seed!

I would recommend this blend as my boy really loves it & it appears to be fresh & high quality…much better than the poor quality seed available at most pet shops to soak. It’s easy to prepare, only takes 8 to 24 hours to soak, it stores in the fridge once rinsed & dried for a day or two after soaking & gives variety to his diet that is usually fresh fruit & veggies. I hope that Raw Foods will continue express shipping, as my boy loves all the products & toys from this company.
